A Bit About Me

My name is Bella and I have been with Outside the Box Dropout Prevention ever since I was 3 years old. Over the years I've gotten more into volunteering and donating.

Passion Project

My Experience

In 6th, 7th, and 8th grade I joined the Volunteer Club. In the Volunteer Club we would have different activities planned for each week. Some of the activities we did were: made treats and delivered them to the fire station, we made dog treats, we made a food cart during Teacher Appreciation Week, we made cards for children in the hospital and more! One week we made care baskets that we would donate to Foster Village. A spokesperson from Foster Village came in and informed the Club what Foster Village did and who they were. This is how I got interested in Foster Village. I started to do research about them and knew Foster Village was one of the organizations I wanted to raise money for.

In 8th grade I did a Passion Project for ELA. The assignment was to find something you're passionate about, research it, create a pitch presentation, create a trifold, and present your passion and trifold to your teachers and peers.

For my passion project, I made sugar scrubs that had sensational scents and a smooth texture. After I made the scrubs, I sold them and donated the proceeds to PAWS & Foster Village. I wanted to do this because I love volunteering and donating. I’ve also always wanted to have my own small business. I thought this project was a perfect opportunity to do both.

My Experience

I've always had a love for animals and desire to care for them. Ever since I was little, I would always gravitate towards being around animals. In 7th grade I got more and more interested in animals. I did some research and found out about PAWS. At the time I wasn't old enough to volunteer so I waited. I knew I wouldn't be able to volunteer till the end of my 8th grade school year. So in 8th grade I decided I would raise money for PAWS as part of my Passion Project. The summer of 2024 I started cat sitting my aunts cats and playing with her dog outside to get more experience so when school rolled around I would be able to volunteer at PAWS.
